lovely sun- diverted onto Dahlias!

Really nice to have actual warmth, despite wind.
Soil is sprinkled with all kinds of germinating seed-the weeds I know, but also some lovely self sowns- poppies and hollyhocks.
It was so nice I couldn't resist potting up some very garish Dahlias to cheer up the veg.
It is a sad veg patch with no flowers at all.

hurdles to protect from wind
I need to get my hurdles out and put them up- cutting down wind is crucial to improving how crops do

At allotment at last!

At allotment at last!
Today is the first time I've been down since the very cold patch started- how great to be there! Loads needs doing, esp potatoes need planting. The are chitting happily so I can leave them another week while the temperature of the soil rises. The phacelia my better half cut a few weeks ago is quite wilted and ready to dig in and all the weeds are massing ready to mount a take over. At last valuable sowing space has been released as all the overwintered geraniums are installed in the greenhouse to get them growing strongly! Spring is finally here!

Sun at last!

At last, the logjam on the window sills can be eased as baby plants can start acclimatizing to a world without central heating! Tomato sowing has finally begun, half hardy plants are preparing for greenhouse life, modules are being filled for bulk sowings. Keep the fleece handy- we haven't seen the last of the cold!
